Kids ride on car

Our kid's ride-on car died completely. Store could not help, so my son and I fixed it ourselves. Here's how we tracked down a burned-out diode and brought it back to life.

Our ride-on car (Control board model JR1956G, control board is visible in the photos below, which should help you identify if yours is the same) suddenly stopped working completely, no movement, no response at all. After the store couldn't help us, my son and I decided to take matters into our own hands.

Using a multimeter and a thermal camera, we tracked down a burned-out DA1 diode as the culprit. A replacement diode from our parts bin later, and the car was back up and running.

I've attached photos of the board and the diode location to help anyone else who runs into the same problem. Hope it saves someone a headache!

73, Denis.
