Denis Kučević

I joined Advania Iceland to help build Smástund, a shift management application for the Icelandic market. Starting from an unnamed prototype with no users. Over four years I grew into the primary developer on the entire application, independently taking features from requirements through research, design, implementation and release. Today Smástund is used by 10,000+ users across Icelandic government institutions, hospitals, airports and emergency services. Beyond the app I contributed heavily to the .NET back-end, implemented the Android CI/CD pipeline with GitHub Actions, and was actively involved in product planning and UI/UX decisions throughout.

Ölgerðin is Iceland's largest alcoholic beverage producer and I took over sole ownership of their internal Android application — a factory floor production monitoring system used across multiple manufacturing halls. The app handles quality control checklists, torque and weight monitoring, photo uploads, shift management and offline-first data sync, all while ensuring compliance with Iceland's strict alcohol production regulations. I delivered a complete new production hall module from scratch and am currently leading a full rewrite of the application with full technical autonomy over stack and architecture decisions.

My first professional development role, working as the sole back-end developer on a Vue/Node stack serving an oil and plastics market data platform. I significantly improved application stability and performance — eliminating excessive DOM bloat, optimising database queries, introducing performance monitoring and indexing the database. I also built a custom tiered subscription system with back-office management and standardised the repository structure and coding practices across the team.

I served as the IT expert for one of Serbia's most prominent humanitarian foundations. I managed and maintained their Drupal CMS, developed custom modules, forms, email templates and PHP-based web pages tailored to the foundation's needs. I resolved critical email deliverability issues that were sending campaigns straight to spam, and restored data integrity to a large mismanaged CRM database that had been neglected for years.

My first exposure to professional software development, building a full-stack food ordering SPA in React as part of a structured team with a dedicated project manager. Working across both front-end and back-end in organized sprints, we delivered a fully working hosted product on time, which remains live in production to this day.
